ASEAN has emerged as one of the Korea's major partners. President Moon Jae-in made visits to 10 ASEAN countries for the past two years after the inauguration. And it has led to the strengthened ties between Korea and ASEAN countries. The 2019 ASEAN-Republic of KOREA Commemorative Summit will be held from November 25 to 26, in Busan, in order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the dialogue partnership between ASEAN and Korea. ASEAN is the second largest trading partner for Korea. And it is the region where Koreans visit the most. So Korea and ASEAN have continuously expanded cultural exchanges. In October 16, a train ride with 200 participants from Korea and 10 ASEAN countries started, under the theme "People, Prosperity and Peace," which are the "3 Ps" of the New Southern Policy. And the trip consisted of stops to major cities of Korea. Moreover, in October 23, ASEAN-Republic of Korea Cultural Tourism Forum was held in Gwangju. An in-depth discussion was held to accelerate the growth of the tourism industries in Korea and ASEAN countries, by making use of the rich cultural resources. ASEAN-ROK START UP EXPO, ComeUp 2019 will be held during the summit this year. And it will contribute to building a better ecosystem for the startup businesses in Korea and ASEAN. The 2019 ASEAN-Republic of KOREA Commemorative Summit will be the biggest international conference that Korea hosts under the current administration. We introduce the 2019 ASEAN-Republic of KOREA Commemorative Summit, which will be held under the slogan, "Partnership for Peace, Prosperity for People."
Along with the continuing economic downturn, an increasing number of consumers prefer purchasing used products, instead of new ones. Advanced IT skills have been introduced to the second-hand market. And a lot of different methods have been applied to improve safety. Along with the continuing development of IT skills, most of the second-hand deals have been done with mobile phones. Consumers can upload the items they want to sell, or purchase the products they want, through a mobile application. Most of the second-hand deals connect sellers and buyers one to one. And a platform which picks up and purchases the used items has been developed. The price is measured by visiting the place where a seller is located. And the price can be deposited immediately on the spot, which is different from other platforms. A consignment-based selling service which verifies the quality of bicycles has been developed. Most of the second-hand deals have been done by checking the products with the naked eye or pictures. However, when using X-ray NDI, or Non-destructive inspection, the inner part of the product can be checked, so it can provide enhanced quality assurance. Only the products that passed the verification process can be provided through the online website. We look into second-hand deal platforms, which have been diversified along with the rise of economical consumption.
The police has recently implemented big data and artificial intelligence to the field of public safety, as part of an effort to boost smart policing. In October, Korea Police World Expo 2019 was held to introduce future technologies for the public safety. And smart policing has garnered a lot of attention. Along with the rise of smart policing, a Korean-style taser gun was developed by implementing cutting-edge technologies. The technology has seized a lot of attention as a promising item that can replace the imported taser guns. Also, different functions of the gun can be controlled and used conveniently, according to different situations thanks to the smart function embedded in a device. In order to save time which usually takes to replace cartridge when the gun is misfired at first, a "3 shoot system" was developed to fire three electrode needles in a row. Intelligent CCTV, which is a cutting-edge technology that can overcome the limitations of existing CCTVs and prevent violent crimes or accidents in advance, has been developed. The intelligent CCTV has implemented a re-identification technology that can recognize the suspect or suspected car in real time and trace them. Moreover, a technology that can find out a compact hidden camera with a diameter of less than 1 millimeter, has been developed. A variety of methods which use LED lens, line laser and electromagnetic waves have been applied to find out hidden cameras. We explore smart policing, which has emerged as a solution that can deal with intelligent crimes and strengthen the public safety.
