A city is where people can enjoy convenience in daily lives provided by various cutting-edge technologies. However, due to its limited space, many challenges are arising as inevitable consequences. This is why 'urban tech,' is gaining attention to provide a solution to the problems involving urbanization. A region with tall buildings frequently have areas with blocked sunshine. Thus, a new technology has been introduced in Korea to address this problem. This device, which prevents any area without sunshine, consists of various types of mirrors. By reflecting the light with mirrors, it delivers sunlight to every corner from the rooftop to shaded residential space. The mirror is adjusted by reflecting coordinates of the sun to transmit more sunlight without any loss. Meanwhile, street tree roots growing within a limited space often lift pavement, creating a tripping hazard for pedestrians. Against this backdrop, street root management system has been developed, so that saved rainwater can be continuously supplied to street trees. It prevents tree roots to penetrate into sewage pipes and drainpipes and helps street trees to be managed in an efficient manner. In addition, technology development is ongoing to reduce noise between floors, which has become the most serious issue in residential areas. Various sound insulation materials have been developed to insulate low frequency noise including footsteps. We look into 'urban tech,' which provides a solution to the problems involving urbanization.
Hydrogen energy, which is deemed as an alternative clean energy source to replace fossil fuels! As increasing number of hydrogen cars is commercialized, hydrogen has become a dominant energy source in daily lives and across various industries. In addition, the government proclaimed so-called 'hydrogen economy' era by designating hydrogen energy as a new economic growth engine. While various industries are paying attention to hydrogen energy as promising energy source, drone industry is focusing on hydrogen energy as an alternative energy source to overcome the disadvantages of traditional batteries. Currently, battery used to power drones lasts only for a short time, from approximately 20 to 30 minutes. However, hydrogen-fueled batteries enabled drones to fly longer. In addition, hydrogen car industry is the industry with most cases of using hydrogen energy. Hydrogen cars do not emit pollution but clean water. In addition, it can get rid of fine dusts and therefore even is even called running air purifier. Rapid charging speed of hydrogen car makes hydrogen car more attractive as one of cars of the future. While charging takes at least 30 minutes for electric vehicles, hydrogen cars require only approximately 5 minutes to finish charging. Various attempts are being made to deploy the advantages of hydrogen energy technology in daily lives. We look into hydrogen energy, which is emerging as a new driver for economic growth.
As tourism industry has recently received increasing attention as a promising sector, many efforts have been made by a lot of countries to attract foreign visitors. According to a recently announced survey on foreign visitors to Korea, the number of foreign tourists visiting Korea is increasing and they stay for a longer period. As they do so, the proportion of visitors to local areas rather than metropolitan areas went up, and many regions in Korea have been striving to promote various forms of local tourism products to attract foreign visitors or to benchmark overseas tourism industry. In particular, Switzerland benchmarked 'Jeju Olle Trail' in Korea, giving synergy in promoting the trails in both countries. In addition, the 'stamp tour' application developed by Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province is contributing not only to increase the interests of foreign visitors, but to stay longer in the tourist sites by connecting one tourist site with other tourist attractions, prompting them to have another visit. Moreover, tourism industry is fast changing as tourism services are provided to domestic tourists by utilizing services already commercialized in other countries based on Korea's infrastructure. We look into Korea's tourism industry, which is trying to win competitive edge, so that it can make contribution in raising the national prestige as well as economy.
