From wet food wastes before cooking to leftovers! A tremendous amount of food wastes are generated everyday. This leads to a question on how to address environmental pollution and high processing cost. Against this backdrop, technologies are being developed to recycle food wastes to be used for various purposes. In some residential complex, people directly put food wastes down the kitchen sink, which are then fertilized in the basement facility. As a result, there is no need to burn food wastes or bury them underground. Instead, fertilizers made from food wastes are used to help grow vegetable in a city. Meanwhile, as a lot of people enjoy coffee, 98% of coffee grounds are scrapped as food wastes. Increasing number of companies jump into the industry to make them into various products for sales. They can become charcoal to be used as fuel or turn into products such as deodorizers or air purifier filters. In addition, a technology to transform tens of thousands of tons of oyster shells taken away as wastes into eco-friendly paint or sidewalk blocks is under development. We introduce food waste-related technologies, which allow food wastes to be used as something valuable once again.
Robots collaborating with humans are garnering attention! It is because they serve as one of the core technologies to be applied in smart factory along with increased productivity and efficiency. In Korea, a lot of research is going on Cobot which assists workers in many ways and it is focused on giving the agility to automate batch runs which require precision.
Moreover, research is going on to develop robots whose fingers can move like humans and arms can have improved sensitivity. Against this drop, increasing number of companies are introducing cobots into their shop-floors. While robots process simple repetitive tasks, operators conduct quality inspection.
