Since establishing diplomatic relations on Mach 22, 1990, South Korea and the Czech Republic have solidified the friendly relations in a variety of fields from politics and economy to culture. Recently, the two countries strengthened solidarity in crisis as the Foriegn Ministers of the two countries had a telephone conversation and discussed response measures to COVID-19. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of friendship, the two countries designated 2020 as the “Year of Mutual Exchange between Korea and the Czech Republic” and are preparing a variety of cultural events to be held in both countries. Although some of the events have been postponed due to COVID-19, meaningful events will help the two countries look back at the relations so far and also look ahead to a stronger friendship in the future. We will hear from Ambassador Gustav SLAMEČKA about the diplomatic story of the two countries, looking ahead at another 30 years into the future.
