This week on "The Diplomat," we meet New Zealand Ambassador to S. Korea Philip Turner who loves K-pop and K-pop bands such as Black Pink and BTS. He lightened up the atmosphere by personally singing the Maori traditional folk song "Pokarekare Ana," which Koreans know and love as "Yeonga." Ambassador Turner is interested in enhancing bilateral exchange in the cultural sector through K-Pop which is popular in New Zealand. He showed pride in the New Zealand group that made it to the 2019 Changwon K-POP World Festival which will be held on Oct. 11, 2019. He also introduces Modern Maori Quartet which re-interprets traditional Maori culture and music. The group has been invited to the Jeonju Sori World Festival. Two New Zealand films which have been invited to the 24th Busan International Film Festival will also be discussed.
