This week, on "The Diplomat," we meet the Indonesian Ambassador to Seoul, Umar Hadi, who has a hearty laugh and friendly eyes. In celebration of the 46th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between South Korea and Indonesia, "Festival Indonesia 2019" was held for three days from September 21, 2019 at Cheonggye Plaza. The festival features various cultural events for people of both nations to understand each other better and communicate. Foreign tourists visiting Korea were also able to participate in the festival and were especially delighted to see the Ambassador himself go up on stage to dance a traditional Indonesian dance wearing a mask and traditional clothes. Ambassador Hadi says he enjoys life in Korea with his wife and daughter. He is fond of using public transportation and keeps record of all the cities he has visited in Korea on a map. These efforts help him understand Korea better, as he strives hard to improve bilateral ties.
We will hear more about his creative ideas to enhance cooperation between the two countries for economic and cultural exchange through this week’s show. Let’s meet Indonesian Ambassador to Seoul, Umar Hadi
