The most often used term to express relations between Korea and Turkey is "blood brother" because of Turkey’s large deployment of troops to South Korea during the Korean War. The Turkish soldiers also gained fame for bravery, loyalty, and selflessness among all the veterans with the highest number of casualties, in relation to the number of soldiers deployed. What’s more, they founded an orphanage called "Ankara School" in Suwon to accommodate war orphans, displaying great love for humanity.
This week on "The Diplomat," we invite Turkish Ambassador to Korea, Ersin Ercin, to talk about our unique bond, his view of the peace process on the Korean Peninsula, and also his vision for the future of Korea-Turkey relations.
