Korean folk song master LEE Hee-moon infuses his color in the traditional Korean music, gugak.
Trained by KO Ju-rang, LEE Chun-hui, KIM Gwang-suk and KIM Ho-seong, LEE Hee-moon is the holder of the National Intangible Cultural Property No. 57, ‘Gyeonggi Minyo,’ a genre of traditional folk songs from Gyeonggi-do Province. He is called a ‘rebel icon’ in the gugak circle.
He is a traditional lyrical storyteller, sorikkun, well-received by the public. Winning the Presidential Award in the 16th National Folk Song Contest in 2010, he was selected as a Person of Merit for the Development of Arts and Culture and received Today’s Young Artist Award in 2015.
