Lee Jong-kul, National Assembly member and grandson of independence activist Lee Hoe-yeong

The March 1st Movement was one of the earliest public displays of Korean resistance during the rule of Korea by Japan. This year marks the centennial anniversary of the March 1st Movement and to commemorate this, we sit down with National Assembly member Lee Jong-kul, the grandson of Lee Hoe-yeong, a Korean independence activist. Independence activist Lee Hoe-yeong dedicated his life for the independence of Korea. He used his entire fortune to fight against the Japanese occupation of Korea. He was also one of the founders of Shinheung Military Academy, a school that taught independence activists. He is a prominent figure who did his utmost for the independence of Korea. National Assembly member Lee Jong-kul is the grandson of independence activist Lee Hoe-yeong and in the past, he fought for the weak as a human rights lawyer. The February 8th Declaration of Independence served as a momentum for the March 1st Movement. To celebrate the centennial anniversary of the February 8th Declaration of Independence, Lee Jong-kul has been appointed chairman of the memorial project committee. In addition, he was named chairman of the Democratic Party's special committee for the centennial anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement and the provisional government. He is working hard in various outlets. On Heart-to-Heart special edition to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the March 1st Movement, we sit down with National Assembly member Lee Jong-kul and learn more about independence activist Lee Hoe-yeong and his endeavors.
