As COVID-19 vaccines started to roll out at the end of last month, people across the world welcomed the new year with high hopes. But concerns are growing over potential discrimination risks around vaccination. Companies and technology groups are developing a digital health passport that would include a passenger’s testing and vaccination details. Spain said it will keep a list of people who refuse to be vaccinated and share it with other EU nations. The French government recently postponed a bill that would ban unvaccinated people or those without proof of a negative COVID test from using public transport, following strong opposition. Meanwhile, the global spread of a new coronavirus variant found in the UK has sparked concerns over the efficacy of existing vaccines. In this week’s edition of Foreign Correspondents, we sit down with our panel of journalists to explore the latest issues surrounding vaccines.
