Korean boyband BTS has reached another milestone in K-pop history, becoming the first South Korean artists to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their new song “Dynamite.” Some are even hopeful that they will get recognition at the Grammy Awards. Besides K-pop, there is also growing interest worldwide in Korea’s other cultural content such as TV dramas or movies. The rise of new content distribution platforms such as Netflix is fueling this trend. In this week’s edition of Foreign Correspondents, we sit down with our panel of journalists to take a deep dive into whether we will see another wave of Hallyu coming from a diverse range of K-content beyond K-pop.
