North Korea fired gunshots in the Demilitarized Zone and criticized South Korea’s routine military exercises, shortly after its leader Kim Jong-un resurfaced from a nearly three-week absence. The regime has focused on diplomacy in recent weeks by sending messages to the leaders of China and Russia. Meanwhile, it is yet to respond to Seoul’s proposal for inter-Korean cooperation on COVID-19 response.
