Foreign Correspondents Ep.128 - The second North Korea-U.S. summit
The second North Korea-U.S. summit ends without a deal

The second summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump ended abruptly without a deal being reached the two sides. It was the first meeting between the two leaders in 8 months, following their Singapore summit last June, and the atmosphere was warm at their initial reunion. However, on the second day of the summit on Feb. 28, events took an unexpected turn after their planned luncheon and announcement of a joint statement were suddenly cancelled. President Trump held a press conference shortly after, where he said the U.S. was aware of other nuclear facilities run by North Korea, aside from the Yeongbyeon complex that Pyeongyang had pledged to dismantle. Trump also claimed that North Korea had demanded a complete removal of sanctions in exchange for its shutdown. Pyeongyang gave a conflicting account in its own press conference held by the country's foreign minister Ri Yong-ho, who claimed that North Korea had only asked for a partial relief of sanctions, not the removal of all of them. In this week's edition of "Foreign Correspondents", we sit down with our panel of foreign journalists to talks about all of these unexpected summit developments as well as the future of the Korean Peninsula moving forward.
