The U.S. midterm elections end in a House win for the Democrats and a Senate majority for the Republicans
The U.S. midterm elections resulted in the Democrats taking back the House of Representatives for the first time in 8 years, while the Republicans maintained their control of the Senate, as widely expected by the polls. President Trump declared victory in the morning after the elections, claiming that outcome had defied historical expectations. The latest elections were marked by a high voter turnout, especially among those under 30, and the new-look House and Senate could have significant ripple-effects across the globe. Those here in South Korea are watching closely for any potential changes to Washington's policy stance on North Korea, and while a high-level meeting between North Korea and the U.S. scheduled for Nov. 8 has been delayed, anticipation is still running high over a second summit between the two countries. Meanwhile, the election outcome could also bring changes to the dynamic in the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China. In this week's edition of "Foreign Correspondents", we sit down with our panel of foreign journalists to discuss all of these issues related to the U.S. midterm elections and more.
