Foreign Correspondents Ep. 105 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang
The 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang,
from the welcoming ceremony at the airport, to the trek up Mt. Baekdusan

The leaders of the two Koreas met for the third time in 2018 alone. On September 18, President Moon Jae-in arrived in Pyeongyang, receiving a warm welcome from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to kick off the third inter-Korean summit. They shared a warm embrace and traveled in a motorcade down the streets of Pyeongyang, just a few of many memorable moments on day one. President Moon also left a lasting impression on the citizens of North Korea by bowing to them deeply and asking to shake their hands. On September 19, day two of the summit, the two leaders announced the Pyeongyang Joint Declaration, outlining their agreement to reduce military tensions on the Korean Peninsula, encourage balanced economic growth, and make further progress towards denuclearization. In the evening, President Moon Jae-in delivered a message of peace in his address to a gathered crowd of 150,000 North Koreans, the first for an elected South Korean official. On September 20, the last day of the summit, the two leaders climbed up Mt. Baekdusan, a place that is considered sacred ground by the two Koreas. In this week's edition of "Foreign Correspondents", we sit down with our panel of foreign journalists to discuss the many facets of the third inter-Korean summit, ranging from the highlight moments to the overall outcome of the discussions.
