His trip was conducted with the aim of establishing lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and gathering support for North Korea's denuclearization. Accompanied by a delegation of 100 business officials, Moon met with a number of Indian businessmen to expand the two countries' economic ties. He also met with Indian Prime Minister Nerandra Modi to discuss bilateral economic cooperation as well as issue pertaining to security and stability in the region. This was followed by a summit meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, where the two leaders agreed to bolster bilteral cooperation in pioneering the fourth industrial revolution. We sit down with our panel of journalists to suss through President Moon's diplomatic achievements on his state visit to India and Singapore.

The New Southern Policy

President Moon Jae-in's "New Southern Policy" has received a green light following his trip to India and Singapore. The New Southern Policy aims to upgrade South Korea's relations with the 10 ASEAN countries and India, to rival that of the four regional powers which include the United States, China, Japan and Russia. The ASEAN member states and India not only boast healthy GDP growth, immense economic potential, a large population and plentiful resources, but it's also been identified as the land of opportunity for many South Korean businesses as well as those from other countries. The Moon government has pledged to expand South Korea's bilateral trade with ASEAN to $200 billion per annum by the year 2020 and in this week's edition of "Foreign Correspondents", we sit down with our panel of foreign jouranlists to discuss President Moon Jae-in's "New Southern Policy" in more detail.
