With just a year left until the opening of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, the preparations are in full swing. A series of test events have kicked off in newly-built stadiums. The Rise of KidultsUrban Cross-Country Skiing CompetitionProfessional cross-country skiers raced across Seoul's riverside park at last month's Seoul International Cross-Country Competition. Organizers covered the park with 10,000 tons of artificial snow to create a 1.2km trail. The competition was intended to raise awareness about cross-country skiing, especially ahead of the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. Cheongsong UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup
The 2017 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup kicked off in the small county of Cheongsong in North Gyeongsang-do Province, bringing together some 100 climbers from 20 countries. This year's World Cup and the selection of ice climbing as a showcase event at the upcoming Pyeongchang Winter Olympics are valuable opportunities that can help the international mountaineering community achieve its goal of making competitive ice climbing into an Olympic sport.
