According to twitter, 75 million tweets were posted regarding the election by the time Trump declared victory. In Korea, the TV show ‘Descendents of the Sun’ swept through Asia, taking 4th place among the most popular broadcast programs in 2016.
Pokemon Go created a sensation over the summer. It recorded the greatest number of downloads in the history of the Apple App Store in its first week of release, and was endlessly mentioned on Twitter. The U.K. exit from the E.U. (Brexit), North Korea’s nuclear tests and the THAAD battery deployment in Korea also followed.
