Foreign Film Festivals in Korea
An Italian film festival was held in Seoul's Gangnam-gu district on November 11th. First launched by the head of an Italian culture group in Korea in 2009, the festival has reached its 8th year, thanks to continued support from fans. The Swedish Film Festival, launched in 2012 to celebrate the a visit to Korea by the Swedish king and to promote cultural commerce, has expanded its venues beyond Seoul to Busan and Gwangju. Foreign film festivals in Korea help to address the desire of moviegoers who want greater diversity than is offered with the dominance of commercial films, while also providing opportunities to better promote a country's culture.
