On November 5th, a special race was held to celebrate the 130th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and France. It was L'Etape Korea, an amateur version of the 103 year old bicycle race, Tour de France. It was the first time that the L'Etape was held in Asia, after being held in France, the UK and Australia. Some 3,000 participants in the L'Etape Korea raced on a 130km course. They were joined by three-time Tour de France winner, Chris Froome. Films exposing the reality of life in North Korea have been generating headlines. Russian director Vitaly Mansky, whose <Under the Sun> opened in April, portrays in his film the process by which 8 year-old Jinmi prepares for an official North Korean state ceremony. During filming, Mansky discovered that almost every aspect of Jinmi's life was a fabrication, and secretly recorded how the North Korean authorities attempted to manipulate each scene. David Kinsella's <The Wall> also takes a critical look at the falsehoods of the North Korean regime, and won an award for best feature film from Amnesty International.
