Economic outcome of the Korea-China summit meeting

The Korea, Chinasummit meeting was held on June 27, in Beijing. The anticipated meeting happened amid recent events of turmoil such as the cancellation of the South, North Korea high level meeting coupled with the North Korean request for a high ranking official meeting with the United States.
The presidential house of Cheongwadae has announced prior to the state visit that the key agendas will be the Free Trade Agreement and issues of diplomacy and national security.
China is Korea’s largest trading partner with last year's trade between the two countries amounting to some US$ 215-billion.
Reflecting the importance in business exchanges the state visit included the largest economic delegation.
We will assess the 'economic aspect' of the Korea-China summit meeting that covered topics of the Korea, China FTA, expansion in bilateral trade and investment as well as collaboration in information technology, finance and the energy sectors.

North Korea
The North Korean economy and the 'Arduous March'
The slogan 'Arduous March' comes up frequently in news related to North Korea.
The devastation that hit North Koreain the mid 1990 was immense with an already weak economy worsened by natural disaster.
The period marked as the 'Arduous March' was between 1994-1998 when the North Korean authority asked its people to maintain their loyalty and take part in the sacrifice to overcome the economic crisis.
The origin of the term comes from the first North Korean leader Kim Il-sung's experience as the commander of a small group of anti-Japanese guerilla fighters who marched from China into the northern borders of then Chosun or Korea for 100 days.
