Rock on Korea #12

College Musicians Festival

In 1977 'College Musicians Festival' was launched with a catchphrase of 'for students’ sound enjoyment of music and sound development of mainstream music'.
Ever since, the festival has won over young hearts nationwide.
It also became *the* springboard to stardom.
Among the stars to emerge from the CMF is the vocal group from Seoul National University,
Sand Pebbles, who sang 'What About Me?'
Also notable are Black Tetra from Hongik University and Runway from Korea Aerospace University.
And in ’88, Moo-han-gwae-do won with its mix of pop and rock,
marking the peak of the CMF as the haven for aspiring artists.
The 'College Musicians Festival' served as a boot camp that shaped popular music in the '80s.
As for its role in Korean rock, the festival helped popularize group acts.
Thanks to the event, more people warmed up to rock, not only as fans, but also, as performers.
