Lee Je-seok, making one-of-a-kind advertisements

Lee Je-seok

Lee Je-seok is famous the unique public ads he has created. In just 2 years after leaving for New York to work on his craft, he swept 29 medals at famous international advertising award ceremonies and festivals.

He fell in love with cartoons when he was in his teens and pursued his dream of working in an art-related field ever since. Despite having graduated with honors from an art university, he failed to find employment, so he decided to become a self-employed sign maker. After suffering humiliation while working on the shop sign for a restaurant he frequented, he decided to leave for America, where he could gain better experience.
He constantly had to pull all-nighters trying to work and study English at the same time. His hard work finally paid off and he gained recognition for his talent at various advertising festivals. Then, he found employment as an art director at global advertising agencies such as JWT New York and BBDO, where he worked on numerous advertisements that caused a huge sensation. His public advertisement, 'You reap what you sow,' won the top prize at the One Show Festival and became a hot issue online. He declined job offers from world-renowned advertising agencies in order to return to Korea and open a new horizon in the Korean advertising industry. Rather than pursuing fame and wealth, he decided to use his talent to raise awareness about suicides, school violence, adoption and discrimination against multicultural families in Korea.

He spent many hours trying to create public ads that would transform the social landscape and make this world a better place. Recently, he was in the spotlight for presenting an ad that involved an installation artwork of a flying police car breaking through a wall to quickly arrive on the scene, and in the process, he transformed a hideous building into a landmark.

Lee Je-seok is 'donating his talent' to contribute to society. He says that one of the reasons he can create ads that truly speak to the people and get their attention is that he can empathize with others and understand their needs because of the hardships he himself has faced over the years. Join us on The INNERview to learn more about the advertising genius, Lee Je-seok, who's known for his brilliant ideas and ads that have changed the way people think.
