a leader of the media converging era
Choi Sung-joon is the first chairman of the Korea Communications Commission who used to be in the judicial circle. He has been in the judicial circle for 28 years and was an IT expert within the legal circle, and we meet with him on The INNERview.
He has led the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) for the past three years in this rapidly changing media environment. He had placed importance on safe and comfortable broadcasting and communications environment, and we look back on his achievements.
"It's meaningful to set up a basis for the betterment of our broadcasting industry through new services like the terrestrial UHD broadcasts and the multi-channel broadcast of the "E" channel."
The results are important, but he worked hard to modify the conflicting parties.
For example, one side demanded a strict protection of personal information, but the other said they need to use the personal information to prepare for an intelligent informational society. The KCC was an arbitration for the conflicting opinions and has brought stability in the broadcasting and communications industries.
Chairman Choi Sung-joon's goal is to establish a broadcasting and communications power house which is trusted by the citizens. We will take a look at the challenges and tasks at hand for Korea to become a global ICT nation in 2017.
