Peretz Lavie is an expert in the psychophysiology of sleep and sleep disorders who has received the Sleep Research Award to the Best Sleep Researcher in Europe and the William Gruen Prize for Innovative Research among other awards.
He is also the President of Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, the first and foremost university centering on science and technology in the country. Since its establishment in 1912, Technion has been playing a pivotal role in national industrial development, and its faculty includes three Nobel laureates.
During our interview, Peretz Lavie explains the diverse cooperation programs aiming toward innovation and entrepreneurship, based on his keynote speech at the International Presidential Forum on Global Research Universities held recently in Seoul. He also speaks of how Technion's graduates founded and led companies to turn Israel into a start-up nation, as well as specific measures for attaining a creative economy.
