Ling Yifan, a Chinese webcomic artist who visited Korea

The 2015 International Content Conference (DICON) organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) took place at COEX in Seoul this past November. The World Webtoon Forum was held as part of the conference, and Ling Yifan gave a keynote presentation in the presence of content experts, who gathered from around the world to delve into the webcomic industry.

Ling Yifan, who is better known by her penname Buddy, is a popular webcomic artist in China. Her webcomics published on famous Chinese webcomic platforms have been viewed around 200 million times, attesting to her popularity. She has a number of hit comic series under her belt including her debut piece "Delicious Seasons (2004)." In 2015, with her latest series, "Guarding," she become the first Chinese webcomic artist to expand into the Korean webcomic industry.

The INNERview crew went to the World Webtoon Forum to capture Ling Yifan's keynote presentation, during which she revealed why she became a comic artist as well as the difficult and positive experiences she has had over the years as an illustrator and storyteller. We also followed her as she toured around Seoul during her first visit to Korea.

Join us on The INNERview this week to meet Ling Yifan, a.k.a. Buddy, who is amassing popularity in the global webcomic community with her beautiful illustrations and inspirational stories.
