The 2014 Korea Professional Baseball season has finally kicked off. Of the many foreign players that are attracting people's attention, Dustin Nippert, a.k.a the "Ace," is one of the most popular and accomplished foreign players in Korea.
Nippert, born in on May 6, 1981, in Wheeling, West Virginia, grew up in a small town called Beallsville in Ohio and showed his raw talent on the mound in high school. After being drafted by Arizona Diamondbacks in the 15th round in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft, he consistently ranked in the list of top 5 rookies. With an outstanding record as a starting pitcher, his career in the Major League seemed promising, but he sustained a serious injury in 2010 when he was with Texas Rangers. After recuperating from his injury, he stepped on Korean soil to make history with Doosan Bears.
Over the 4 years with the Bears, Nippert has gained a strong fan base in Korea, who adore him for not only his talent but also his character. During the interview, he showed his appreciation toward the Korean baseball fans as well as his teammates who consider him as part of the family. He also showed the fastball pitching techniques, for which he gained fame, and explained the ball characteristics that are especially important.
