Jung Ku-ho, the founder of KUHO, turned it into one of the top designer brands in Korea, recording US$ 86 million in annual sales, in just 10 years after partnering up with a large corporation in 2003. He then resigned from his executive position and opened a second chapter in life as a dance director.
He explains that he has been yearning to escape from the office environment and use his creativity and artistic sense out in the field. The successful fashion designer has dabbled in many other art and design genres besides fashion design; he staged a ballet piece called Chohyeon 15 years ago and is currently presenting a reinterpretation of the original.
During the interview, Jung Ku-ho talks about his unwavering passion for art and music, which he began to develop when he picked up piano at a young age. He says that he followed his inner voice and pursued his passion despite the obstacles he faced including his father's objections.
He says that his philosophical view of art and design has remained the same, but it's just the form of its presentation that has changed. He has directed his attention to dance performances for now as he is currently preparing for four productions scheduled for this year alone. So, join us on The INNERview to meet the fashion designer-turned-dance director Jung Ku-ho and hear his story about his childhood, life as a fashion designer, and dance production projects.
