President Park Geun-hye addressed a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress on Wednesday where she laid out goals for the next step in South Korea-U.S. relations. Park stressed that the two countries should set up a foundation for a peacful reunification of the two Koreas. She also said that based on the strong South Korea-U.S. alliance,... Pyongyang's provacations would never succeed... and that the North should realize that it is not nuclear weapons that will protect its people, but the improvement in the people's livelihoods. Creating a cooperation process in the northeast Asian region,... is another vision President Park put forth. She added the process aims at expanding cooperation from common interest issues to political and security issues,... and allowing North Korea to join the framework later on.
