The inter-Korean summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on that April day would lead to many first-evers. The first North Korea, U.S. summit, the first air travel by Kim Jong-un, the first visit by a South Korean leader to Mt. Baekdu.
Possibilities for engagement in 2018 hit an impasse after a failed North Korea, U.S. summit in Hanoi in 2019 which turned to a stalemate in 2020.
