This is a drama, which was coproduced by Korea and Germany, about Li Mirok, who is the one and only Korean writer who wrote in German language in Germany.
Born in the late Joseon Dynasty, he participated in the March 1st Movement and exiled to Shanghai, working for the provisional government when he received a passport to Europe.
Upon arriving in 1920, he received his doctoral degree at Munich University and published many short writings about Korea on German newspapers and articles.
His novel, titled ‘The Yalu River Flows,’ which was about oriental culture, tradition, and customs, became a bestseller in German literary circles and it was also put in German textbooks.
Li Mirok passed away while working as the professor of Asian Studies in Munich University. |
