In light of Korea's Lunar New Year holiday, we met with 23 North Korean defectors living in South Korea to hear their hopes and concerns on everything from inter-Korean relations to the current Winter Olympics.
They say that not a day goes by that home is not missed and that it always tugs at the heartstrings.
For some, the first thing they want to do is to have a reunion with friends while for others, it's to visit the resting places of parents who have passed away.
The state visit of North Korean art troupes and high-level delegations to South Korea in light of the Winter Olympics was also a topic of interest among the defectors.
For some who were former performers at one time, their visit was especially anticipated.
The world may call them by various names like traitors, runaways and renegades.
But despite the many difficulties, they say that they are just ordinary people that risked their lives for a better life and are now waiting patiently to one day find their way back home.
We unveil the stories of 23 North Korean defectors who left home behind and found a new life in the land of new opportunities.
