Camel racing is a deep-rooted traditional sports that reflects the desert culture of the Arabian Peninsula and was widely held in North Africa, the Middle East Asia, and the desert regions. It used to take place irregularly at weddings and festivals, but recently it has become a popular sport held throughout the year in oil-producing Middle East countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Sudan and etc.
For the last decades, the United Arab Emirates Camel Racing has rapidly developed. President Sheikh Zayed and the leadership are continuing their wholehearted support and investment for the development of camel racing. This is with an intention to achieve the restoration of traditional culture and the unity of the people.
UAE’s Camel Racing has camels divided into groups of female, male, and young. The tracks are also divided into 8Km, 11Km and 13Km.
In order to have camels achieve good scores, genetic management of the camels takes place thoroughly, and artificial proliferation is also carried out in order to gain camels with good genes.
We feel the breath of tradition from Arabic culture through the unfamiliar sport of Camel Racing.
