The visiting United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and Seoul's Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan held a joint news conference on Friday morning. Clinton fully supported South Korea's stance toward North Korea's nuclear ambition, urging the communist regime to stop the threats of a missile launch and to come back to the inter-Korean dialogue. The US top diplomat also touched on the looming leadership crisis in the North, a rare move for a high-ranking Washington official, saying the US will the deal with the leadership that exists while preparing for any contingencies. Clinton also announced the widely anticipated appointment of Stephen Bosworth, a former US ambassador to Seoul, as the US envoy on North Korea. This was Clinton's third stop on her tour of Asia, her first official trip overseas as secretary.
