“The Last Prince, Fading Dream of a Dynasty” explores the life, love, dreams and trials of Lee Ku, the final prince of the Joseon Dynasty who died last July.
He was born and raised in Japan in 1931, by which time Japan had colonized Korea, rendering Lee a prince without a country to rule.
He studied in the United States, eventually concentrating in architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He fell in love with and married an American woman. For many years, he struggled with whether to return to Korea.
Eventually, he did, but only to return to Japan years later, where he died.
Tune in for a look at the life of a prince whose death marks the end of Korea’s Joseon lineage.
