Issue Now : Korean Red Cross' humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees


It has already been 70 days since Russian forces launched military attacks on Ukraine.
According to an update from Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), as of May 2nd, there have been 6-thousand 4-hundred-69 civilian casualties in the country: 3-thousand 1-hundred-53 killed and 3-thousand 3-hundred-16 injured, since the Ukraine war began. And, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) tallied about over 5.5 million Ukrainian refugees who had to flee the country.

To support Ukraine, the South Korean government provided 40 million dollars of humanitarian emergency aid, as well as the Korean National Red Cross are involved in helping Ukraine. Today, we are going to talk with Kim Jae-ryul, a head of the International Cooperation office at Korea’s National Red Cross.
