U.S. Commerce Department ends special treatment to Hong Kong over China's new law Updated: 2020-06-30 07:27:41 KST

The U.S. Commerce Department has ended its policy of special treatment to Hong Kong, including the suspension of export license exceptions.
The decision comes as Chinese lawmakers are preparing to pass highly-controversial national security legislation for Hong Kong that severely restricts the freedoms of people in Hong Kong.
The head of the Commerce Department, Wilbur Ross, said further actions are being evaluated as Washington ups pressure on Beijing over its decision to impose the new law.
