U.S. says semiconductor chip shortage has nothing to do with S. Korean firms Updated: 2022-01-27 08:02:09 KST

The U.S. Department of Commerce says the country's semiconductor shortage has nothing to do with South Korean firms, increasing hopes that bilateral chip cooperation will get a boost.
This week, the U.S. Commerce Department released results from a report that had requested 150 tech firms, including Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, disclose their chip data to Washington.
Noting the Korean tech giants have upped production, a separate report urged Seoul to strengthen its cooperation with the U.S. in terms of chip supply.
