Of all people in Korea who were working last year, the proportion employed by small and medium-sized companies fell below 90 percent for the first time since 2004.
According to Statistics Korea, there were 27 million people employed last year, and around 24 million were working for companies with fewer than 3-hundred employees.
This is equal to 89.7 percent of the workforce.
The decline was mainly attributed to difficulties the pandemic has caused in the hospitality sector.
Last year was also the first time more than ten percent of the workforce was employed by large corporations.
