National Health Insurance premium to increase starting July next year for those with additional income exceeding 17 thousand dollars a year Updated: 2021-12-09 13:40:54 KST

Korea's National Health Insurance premiums will go up in the second half of next year for many people with income outside a regular salary.
The health ministry made the announcement today, say it's part of a reform of the country's income-based insurance system.
Starting in July, premiums charged on non-salary income, such as rental or business income, will kick in for the amount above 17-thousand dollars a year, instead of around 29 thousand dollars.
That'll affect freelancers, too, because they receive business income.
