U.S. House reaffirms current level of U.S. Forces Korea will remain unchanged Updated: 2021-12-08 13:43:01 KST

The U.S. House of Representatives has reaffirmed that the number of American troops stationed on the Korean Peninsula will stay at its current level.
A revised version of the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act was unveiled on Tuesday local time, announcing strengthened partnerships with close U.S. allies in the Indo-Pacific region, to compete with China.
The bill specifies that the U.S. will continue to station 28,500 military personnel in South Korea.
Last week, the Pentagon chief, Lloyd Austin, made a similar pledge when he visited Seoul for a meeting with his South Korean counterpart.
