South Korea's National Security Advisor Suh Hoon will sit down for talks on Thursday with China's top diplomat Yang Jiechi.
Suh will go to the Chinese port city of Tianjin at the invitation of Yang who is the Politburo member in charge of foreign affairs.
The Blue House says the officials will discuss bilateral relations, Korean Peninsula affairs and exchange views on other areas of mutual interest.
There's speculation that they'll also discuss declaring a formal end to the Korean War and ways to bring North Korea back to the negotiating table.
The two last met in August 2020.
