Aung San Suu Kyi facing new charges of electoral fraud Updated: 2021-11-17 08:46:12 KST

Myanmar's military authorities continue to add fresh charges against the ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi, as well has members of her administration.
According to a state media announcement on Tuesday, the Nobel Prize winner is now facing a new electoral fraud charge, along with 15 others.
The 76-year-old faces 11 criminal charges, including two for corruption, and one for violating the Official Secrets Act, which could see her sentenced to a maximum of more than 100 years in prison.
She has been held captive by the military since the February coup, when the military justified their takeover by accusing her government of obtaining a landslide election victory through a manipulated vote.
