S. Korea's vaccination rate reaches 70 percent on Saturday Updated: 2021-10-23 17:38:09 KST

South Korea's vaccination rate has reached over 70 percent on Saturday, bringing the country a step closer to post-pandemic life.
According to the government, 70 percent, or some 36 million people, of the country's total population have been fully vaccinated as of 2 PM on Saturday.
The government set the 70-percent vaccination rate as a prerequisite for beginning what authorities are calling "living with corona."
The country passed the major milestone 2-hundred-40 days after shots started being given to its people.
Achieving the 70 percent goal is expected to pave the way for South Korea to gradually return to normalcy, starting as early as November.
This means that current distancing rules like restrictions on social gatherings and business operation hours could possibly be lifted for fully vaccinated people.
