LG Energy Solution, LG Electronics agree to reimburse GM roughly US$ 1.2 bil. Updated: 2021-10-13 16:31:30 KST

LG Energy Solution and LG Electronics have said they've reached a deal to reimburse General Motors roughly 1.2 billion U.S. dollars for the recall and repair of its Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles.
GM said Tuesday that fixing the vehicles, including a complete replacement of their faulty batteries, is expected to cost nearly two billion dollars.
GM had originally demanded that LG pay for every vehicle, but LG Energy Solution said they reached a deal for 1.2 billion dollars compensation for only a certain number of vehicles.
Problems with the Chevrolet Bolt - GM's flagship EV - have led the automaker to recall every unit since production began in 2016.
