The United States has agreed to give humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, but will not recognize the Taliban as the country's ruling regime.
That's according to the Taliban on Sunday local time, following talks with Washington over the weekend in the Qatari capital of Doha.
Marking their first face-to-face meeting since the Islamic group took over Afghanistan in August, the two sides reportedly discussed the need for humanitarian aid as well as global concerns surrounding the Taliban's approach to human rights.
Washington's state department said "the discussions were candid and professional," while the Taliban said the talks had "gone well."
The two sides did not specify whether a detailed agreement had been reached.
