S. Korea's SK hynix makes joint investment for semiconductors in China's Wuxi city Updated: 2021-10-09 15:18:58 KST

South Korea's leading chipmaker, SK hynix, is building a semiconductor industrial complex in the Chinese city of Wuxi, making a joint venture with a Chinese company.
The joint investment is worth almost 310-million U.S. dollars.
Wuxi city says construction began last week to build a joint integrated circuit hub which encompasses design, manufacture, and equipment for chips.
China has been making a massive investment in semiconductors for self-reliance amid its intensifying competition with the U.S.
SK hynix already has its semiconductor factory in the Chinese city and has been producing chips there since 2006.
