South Korea has planned detailed discussions with a U.S. drugmaker, to buy oral antiviral medication for COVID-19.
Made by Merck, the medicine can be administered with ease in the form of a pill.
Some expect it to be a “game changer" in Coronavirus treatment.
Dr. Anthony Fauci also noted its impressive positive preliminary results which showed it could lower the risk of hospitalization or death for the infected by 50 percent.
He highlighted future implementation of the drug held a lot of promise and that the FDA will review data as quickly as possible.
However, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease stressed that the drug would "absolutely not" be a replacement for getting vaccinated.
