South Korea has planned detailed discussions with a U.S. drugmaker, to buy oral antiviral medication for COVID-19.
Made by Merck, it can be administered with ease in the form of a pill.
Some believe this could be a “game changer" in Coronavirus treatment.
Dr. Anthony Fauci noted the impressive positive preliminary results which showed it could lower the risk of hospitalization or death for the infected by 50 percent.
He highlighted future implementation of the drug held a lot of promise and that the FDA will quickly review data.
However, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease stressed the drug would "absolutely not" be a replacement for getting vaccinated.
