Pfizer says its vaccine's efficacy wanes by 6% every two months so booster is needed Updated: 2021-09-16 07:10:15 KST

Pfizer is pressing the FDA to approve a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine, saying immunity wanes by six percent every two months after being fully vaccinated adding that a booster is needed after six months.
This comes just two days after leading scientists, writing in the medical journal 'The Lancet', said booster shots are not needed for the general public and just two days before the FDA will debate the matter.
Pfizer's statement was included in documents posted on the FDA's website.
Pfizer also says evidence was clear in real life data from Israel where the booster shot restored the public's immunity level up to 95-percent.
